RISEN BOARD LEADERSHIP
Board Members
There shall be a Senior Pastor/President.
There may be a Vice President.
There shall be a Secretary.
There shall be a Treasurer.
Other individuals may be added as needed.
DESCRIPTION
The Board is that group of persons overseeing the faith and life of the church.
The majority shall serve without remuneration and not be related by blood or marriage.
The Senior Pastor/President shall be chairman of the Board and chief executive of the corporation.
Each member of the Board shall have equal voting power among all of the other members.
A decision of the Board is considered valid with a two-thirds majority vote.
DUTIES
The Board shall devote their time to prayer, the ministry of the Word (by teaching or encouraging sound doctrine), and shepherding God's flock. They shall take particular responsibility to examine and instruct prospective members, equip the congregation for the work of the ministry, encourage sound doctrine, character and practice, admonish and correct error, coordinate and promote the ministries of the church, and mobilize the church for mission. The Board is further to ensure that all who minister the Word to the congregation, including outside speakers, share our fundamental convictions. They shall work closely with the pastor(s) to ensure a healthy spiritual atmosphere within the fellowship.

Not violent; not pugnacious (1 Tim. 3:3; Titus 1:7)
Patient, moderate, forbearing, gentle (1 Tim. 3:3; Titus 1:7)
Not a brawler; not contentious, not quick tempered (1 Tim. 3:3)
Not covetous; not a lover of money (1 Tim. 3:3; Titus 1:7)
Good reputation (1 Tim. 3:7)
Not self-willed (Titus 1:7)
A lover of good (Titus 1:8)

RISEN BOARD LEADERSHIP PROCESS
STEP 1: RECOMMENDATION
Church recommendation - Recommend a person from Risen. You will need that person’s approval.
Acceptance of recommendations (not everyone is accepted) by the Board.
Invitation to training.
STEP 2: TRAINING
Orthodoxy (theology) - Complete The Big Story Course
Orthopathy (character) - Complete character assessment (2 rec. letters)
Orthopraxy (practice) - Proven leadership experience.
STEP 3: INTERVIEW
Prospective board members shall be examined in:
Christian experience
knowledge of Risen system of doctrine, government and discipline
The duties of the “office” to which they have been nominated to
The willingness to give assent to the questions required for installation
STEP 4: INSTALLATION
Public recognition of completion of training before the congregation and acceptance into “office”.
